The Pawsey Centre Project will comprise a purpose-built central building, housing a petascale supercomputing system, which will be linked to remote supercomputing facilities connected through iVEC's 10 gigabit per second data network. The central building will be constructed on CSIRO-owned land adjacent to the CSIRO’s existing Australian Resources Research Centre facility at Technology Park, Bentley, approximately six kilometres from Perth’s CBD.

File 369First soil was turned on 17 August 2009 by Minister Carr and Minister Buswell. The design phase of the building ran from early 2010 through to mid 2011. Construction will commence in late 2011 through late 2012.
