Pawsey Centre Systems Architect

Over the past twenty years Guy has migrated from using supercomputing as a key tool in his research activity to leading the design, operation and support activities involved in production supercomputing centres. He has acted as a liaison between computers and users at the Arctic Region Supercomputing Centre, Fairbanks, Alaska, for the UKMO, based at the Earth Simulator, and as part of the CSE support for HECToR in the UK, as well as working for several supercomputer vendors designing systems for scientists to use. Guy recently started work as the Systems Architect at the Pawsey Centre, with responsibilities for the design of the Petascale systems as part of the SKA pathfinder activity. A key focus of all his work has been the use of computers to solve complex problems, creating a productive environment, and providing support to maintain users at the leading edge as technologies advance.
