iVEC is pleased to announce that research enabled by the iVEC@Murdoch supercomputer ‘Epic’ has seen publication in the journal Nature Communications with the paper ‘Stable prenucleation mineral clusters are liquid-like ionic polymers’.
This project involved running molecular dynamics simulations containing up to 6 million atoms, something that was made feasible by exploiting the parallelism of 4,200 cores of the supercomputer.
The research was conducted by Professor Julian Gale, Dr Paolo Raiteri and Dr Raffaella Demichelis from Curtin University’s Nanochemistry Research Institute, along with Dr David Quigley from the University of Warwick’s Department of Physics and Centre for Scientific Computing and Dr Denis Gebauer from the Department of Physical Chemistry, University of Konstanz.

iVEC would like to congratulate the team for the publication and would like to encourage other users to contact us if they would like coverage of their research.
