Phase 3 winners announcedCongratulations to Chris Dickinson and SpaceTime for being the two projects to go through to Phase 3 of the iVEC Small Business Technology Assistance. Many thanks and appreciation for all the hard work this year all the projects who participated in the scheme. Chris Dickinson and SpaceTime will receive $50,000 of matching support each for their projects in high performance computing and advanced visualisation respectively. The 2009 scheme will finalise on 28 May 2010. iVEC will be holding an event to celebrate the results from the projects. More details as we get closer to May. Meet the projectsThe seven projects which made up the 2009 Small Business Technology Assistance Scheme were : • K-Vault, by Kondinin Group • Telerobotic Control System, by Transmin • Groundwater Flow Simulation, by NTEC EnvironmentalTechnology • Parallelisation of Optimisation Software, by Stephen P Hill • EVO, by Chris Dickinson • GPU Accelerated Common Astronomy Software, XENON Systems • Stereoscopic Planetarium, by SpaceTime / Redshift West Seven West Australian businesses, from a wide array of industry sectors, are set to reach milestones, thanks to the 2009 iVEC Industry and Government Uptake Program. The program is running a small business assistance scheme, working with small medium enterprises to encourage the use of high performance computing (HPC) and visualisation in the State. It is one of four initiatives run through the program. iVEC’s Industry and Government Uptake Program will then choose from the seven businesses for Phase Two of the program, comprising resources and assistance worth a total of $60,000. By November, two lucky businesses will be selected to receive support worth a total of $50,000. Check out the feature article to learn more about each project.
