iVEC offers a competitive assistance scheme to small businesses from Western Australia. This uptake scheme provides free access to iVEC infrastructure, expertise and/or programmers, matched in value to contributions from the applicant(s). The 2011 scheme will operate in two phases; the first being two weeks of project scoping for four projects, and the second being up to six weeks of further assistance for two of the projects from phase one.
The 2011 scheme was open to applications from May 23 to July 1 2011. The assistance will run between August-Dec 2011. Please note that the assistance part of the scheme has been pushed back by a month from the original advertised dates.
The four projects who were accepted into phase one of the scheme are:
- Think Bottom Up Pty Ltd, "GPU Based Fingerprint Matching",
- VRShed Pty Ltd, "Simulation Library Optimisation",
- Black Box Bioinformatics Pty Ltd, "Cost-assessment of high-performance computing for commercial bioinformatics and development of supercomputer-based bioinformatic analysis pipelines",
- Moombarriga Geoscience Pty Ltd, "Implementation of Magnetotelluric Inversion and Modelling".
Resources available to the scheme include:
- Expert advice and Programmers (2 weeks EFT in phase 1, 6 weeks EFT in phase 2)
- Access to supercomputers, data storage, visualisation equipment and a high speed network
The outcomes of the four scoping phase projects will determine which two projects will receive the second phase assistance.
